Best MacBook Pro Accessories and Upgrades 2012
So You Got Yourself a New and Shiny MacBook Pro
Congratulations! Welcome to the brighter, sleeker, sexier and user friendlier side of personal computing. You've decided to choose a wonderful piece of technology capable of meeting your demands and completely surpassing them. It's not just hardware either, it's a testament to the innovation and boldness of Apple and the great late Mr. Steve Jobs. You now may be faced with the question of what accessories you may want/need to go along with your new found investment. Look no further as I have compiled a list of what I believe to be the best accessories and upgrades for your MacBook Pro. Let's get started shall we?
Moving Mountains
Cooling Pads
Every laptop gets hot, and MacBook Pro's are no exception. You can keep your laptop cool without cramping it's style with these "cool" cooling pads. (horrible joke I know)
Logitech Speaker Lapdesk N700
This cooling pad from Logitech not only cools but comes with speakers. I haven't tried the product out yet but many reviewers around the net highly recommend it. You simply place your laptop onto the pad and plug in the usb cable. That's it! No batteries or plugging anything into a wall outlet. Many people say it is comfortable and I wouldn't disagree. It's a bit steep at $64.99, but with the extra features on top of the cooling, it's a pretty good investment.

Targus Lap Chill Mat
This cooling pad from Targus does exactly what you need it to do. Just like the Logitech Lapdesk, all you need is an available usb port to plug into and your good to go. There are four grips to keep your laptop in place, and nice feeling fabric on the underside. It'll fit any size MacBook which is great, and the matching silver color won't cramp your laptops style. Priced at a reasonable $34.99, you can prevent heat damage and avoid a much larger price tag associated with a heat related repair bill.
I recently purchased this cooling pad for myself and I must say it does its job well. I like the fabric-like material for some strange reason. Lower temperatures while normally using it did in fact occur so I have to say I am satisfied. (download FMC Fan Control to get a real-time glimpse of your temperature and control fan speed).

Cases
We all travel, hence the need for a travel bag. These cases and bags are great for MacBook Pro's and are thankfully easy on the eyes as well.
Caselogic Neoprene Laptop Sleeve
This sleeve by Caselogic is pretty simple, but protects well and has a great price. For $17.62 you can get either a black or blue sleeve with sueded internal lining and durable neoprene cushioning to protect your laptop. It also has a tiny compartment within the side pocket for your flash drive. They have cases that will fit any size MacBook Pro.
Be.ez LE vertigo fitly
This next case is perfect if you just want to carry around your laptop, a few extra books and magazines, and your charger. Style wise this thing is a looker but at $69.99 it may be too steep for some. It features a water proof nylon layer on the exterior and reinforced laptop protection thanks to its padded computer sleeve on the inside.
You can learn more and get it on amazon here.
ZAGG invisibleSHIELD
Want to make your MacBook Pro immune to scratches and other abrasions? Then get yourself an invisible shield by ZAGG. A friend of mine had an invisible shield on his ipod and holy crap is that stuff stong. They developed this stuff for helicopter blades so this is pretty much overkill when protecting your mac from cosmetic damages. Some reviewers from amazon disliked the tedious application, but once it's on it looks great and will last for a very, very long time. Get your protection on for $44.65.
How to apply the invisible shield
ClearCal Anti-Glare Film for Glossy Displays
This film is great for those who have glossy screens but want a matte one on their Pro. It's nice to know these films are available because you can buy a Pro with a glossy screen and not have to shell out more money for an anti-glare screen good ole Apple likes to overcharge for. (still love you Steve) You can get one from RadTech here.
Moshi ClearGuard MB Keyboard Cover for MacBook/Pro
A non-toxic engineering-grade thermoplastic urethane cover that keeps your keys safe from dust, debris, and water damage. I really like how it is clear also, letting every key shine brightly though. It's removable and washable making clean up quick and easy as pie.
Microsoft Wireless Mobile Mouse 6000
This new mouse from Microsoft is awesome. I've been using it everyday and have had no problems at all. It comes with a super tiny usb dongle that plugs in via usb to wirelessly tie the mouse to your MacBook. The scroll wheel has to be the best part of this mouse for me though, it feels great and you'll find yourself scrolling a little bit too much just so you can feel how smooth it is.
Apple Wireless Keyboard
Usually I don't condone overpriced peripherals but the sheer beauty and elegance the Apple wireless keyboard gives off can not be ignored. I've used it a few times and while simply being a keyboard, it has a style all its own and will obviously go great with your MacBook.
Verbatim Wireless Slim Keyboard and Mouse
Looking for a cheaper alternative to a keyboard that is worthy of being used for your mac? Then the Verbatim Wireless Slim Keyboard should not be overlooked. Sporting a very thin and clean design, along with a mouse for around $30.00 on Amazon makes this a very enticing deal indeed.
I plan to have my quick review of the keyboard right here very soon. If you just so happen to get it before me let me know how it is. Mmkay?
RAM- Know where to get an upgrade from
This goes out to the first wave of MacBook Pro users out there or anyone with a mac looking to up their random access memory. Their site has a cool tool that you can download to determine what ram chips are compatible with your system. You can visit Crucial's site here. And if you want to find out how to upgrade your ram visit this link.
Output your MacBook Pro via HDMI
It's extremely simple to hook your Mac up to any display with an hdmi input. All you need is the cable to the right. Simply plug the non hdmi end of the cable into your MacBook and the other end into any display that accepts hdmi input.
Upgrading to a larger Hard Drive.
Upgrading to a larger internal hard drive is not the daunting task you might think it is. The same goes for backing up all of your information. Here are the products and a great tutorial website that will get you started.

Beacon 600 by IMG Lighting
This Led desk lamp is quite the looker. With the latest generation light emitting diodes you get enhanced brightness, optical clarity and better color rendering. This is the cherry on top for those who want a nice atmosphere to go along with their MacBook Pro workstations.

Win for the Anti Glare screen that helps alot! I got it after I saw this post. I've also the apple wireless key board and an IMG Lighting LED Desk lamp for the most purrrr macaliocus setup.
Also go for the ram. Its way cheap now, and its way easy to put it in. Apple has a walk through. ANYONE can do the ram upgrade in like 10 mins, and 8 gb of ram easily had for less than $40
@ Trish

@ Labnol:
You are very kind sir
Thank you very much, I never thought there was as many accessories as there is for a macbook pro. The decals look very interesting I think i'll have to enquire about that iron man decal - it looks so cool. Once again thanks for all the ideas.
@ i_am_monk:
You are very welcome. It is awesome though that there are a number of accessories that can improve your Macbook experience exponentially, it just takes a bit of research to find them :)
I agree the decals are pretty sweet, still debating on which one I want. Thanks a lot for the comment!
