Best PS3 Controller Upgrades 2012: FPS Freeks, Real Triggers & More
91Your controller is an extension of your body
Every gamer knows reflexes are everything, and the guy who centers their reticule in that fatal spot first, wins. Gone are the days when one can only rely on hand-eye coordination. Twitchingly fast movements are an absolute must-have skill when playing online FPS's these days, so I bring you my list of upgrades that make those split-second twitch movements hit their mark efficiently, consistently, twitchingly.
Gioteck Real Triggers
First up on the must-have list is an accessory that should have been integrated onto the controller the first time around. These things in fact do increase accuracy in all and every game that requires you to you use the right trigger. An added benefit I noticed while using them is when you have the controller in your hands, the whole controller just feels, right. I feel like I have a better hold of the controller itself. When things get insane online in Black Ops I can keep my cool and strike back deadly and accurately. And installation is cake, they snap on easily and will stay on unless you give the trigger an iron death squeeze. The gray colored attachment triggers match the original almost perfectly and further sells you on the idea that this controller should have been designed this way since its inception.
Silicone Skin Case
Many thoughts could enter ones mind when confronted by the word silicone. Right now though, concentrate on this silicone skin case okay? Wrap this surprisingly comfortable skin onto your controller and voila! your controller is now covered in silicone. It's a simple upgrade with subtle advantages, but in the competitive gaming world, subtle advantages can go a long way. There are many different brands/colors available but the ones I use and love are listed to the right. The obvious advantages are the grip you have on the controller that works as well as you would guess and no, they don't promote or spur on the event of hand sweating, so no worries there. Couple this with the added grip of the real triggers and you'll think your hands have been glued to your peripheral.
FPS Freeks
Last and most favorite upgrade is the FPS Freeks by KontrolFreek. These are hands-down the best controller attachment to hit the market ever. Okay maybe not ever but these things are pretty damn awesome. They snap onto your analog sticks (either on your Playstation controller or your Xbox one) snugly and securely essentially adding length to your sticks. Increasing the length of your sticks means you get better accuracy and a wider range of control. Feel free to turn up your sensitivities because with the added control comes better precision when aiming, that means spotting your enemy faster and turning around when getting shot in the back faster. It helps you get your crosshairs where they need to be twitchingly faster than your opponent. Take note that they do get some getting used to so don't expect to master your new upgrades until after you've played a few matches. They have a variety of colors so you can choose the ones that fancy you most.
PS3 Avenger Contoller
What you see above is not science fiction rather a render of what the actual accessory looks like. Essentially it is a housing that encases your Playstation 3 controller and allows you to reach and hit buttons and triggers faster than well, someone who doesn't have it. From N-control's webiste-
"The Avenger is an external adapter that houses the existing Sony PS3 ® controller, helping to improve your situational awareness, accuracy, agility, and reaction time. The Avenger allows for rapid, fluid movements between individual buttons and analogue sticks. Equipped with a stabilizer stand, customizable levers, high-precision tension straps, hair-trigger capabilities, and sensitivity adjusters, the Avenger can be fine-tuned like an instrument."
The Xbox 360 version is out already, but the one for PS3 will be out this November.
PS3 Bluetooth Headset
Everyone who plays games online knows communication is key, and a very fun part of an online gaming experience. If you're looking for a headset that sounds great, looks great, and works with your phone and computer, you can't go wrong with Sony's. Put noobs in their place today!
In The Clutch
And there your have it, four upgrades that I guarantee will give you a decent edge over the competition online.
